PSHE /RSE resources

At Robert Ogden School, we are committed to providing a Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) curriculum that is inclusive, age-appropriate, accessible, and tailored to the needs of our pupils. As a special school, we recognise the importance of delivering learning in ways that support communication, understanding, personal safety, wellbeing, and the development of healthy relationships, whilst being mindful of statutory guidelines and content.

To support our teaching, we use a range of high-quality, evidence-based resources from recognised organisations, including:

• The PSHE Association, whose planning frameworks and guidance help ensure our curriculum meets statutory requirements and promotes pupils' personal development, safety, and wellbeing.
• NSPCC educational resources, which support teaching around personal safety, consent, healthy relationships, recognising abuse, and knowing how to seek help from trusted adults.
• Yasmine and Tom, a specialist resource designed for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), which provides accessible materials to support learning about relationships, growing up, privacy, personal care, boundaries, and sexual health.
• Brook, SEND specific RSE resources designed in collaboration with the National Autistic Society, aimed at leaners in Year 7 and above.

All resources are carefully selected and adapted by staff to meet the individual learning needs, developmental stages, communication abilities, and emotional maturity of our pupils. Lessons are delivered in a sensitive and supportive manner, promoting respect, dignity, inclusion, and safeguarding at all times.

We value the partnership between home and school and encourage parents and carers to contact us if they would like further information about our Relationships and Sex Education curriculum or the resources we use. We will be holding information sessions in school for parents closer in time to the terms prior to our specific RSE content being delivered, though aspects of respectful and understanding relationships, consent and tolerance of others is threaded through all topics in the PSHE curriculum.
